The Myanmar calendar subscribes to both the solar and lunar months, thus requiring an intercalary 30-day 13th month every second or third year. Therefore, the full moon days may change from one month to another in the usual calendar. Generally, Myanmar has three seasons. The monsoon or the rainy season from May to October, the cold season from November to February, and the hot season from March to May. People are known for their desire for fun, which is evident in round the year festivals celebrated in Myanmar. Festivals can be divided into two types, nation-wide and regional. Each month has it own unique festivity and each festival has its own special feature. A part from festivals of the Buddhist, there are also those for Christians, Muslims, Hindus, and Chinese.
